On May 14th, Equinor is holding its annual general meeting (AGM) in Stavanger, Norway. This is when the company’s shareholders vote on the future strategic direction of the company. For the Equinor Out coalition, it’s a key moment to pressure Equinor to align its investments with climate science and cancel all new oil and gas projects worldwide.
As shareholders, Greenpeace Norway and WWF-Norway have submitted a proposal calling for the replacement of Equinor´s board members due to their lack of competency in green transition and renewable energy. Read more about why this proposal has been filed, and the proposal itself here.
People impacted by Equinors projects are traveling to the AGM to tell their stories and confront Equinor and the Norwegian government for the climate damage they are causing. Stay tuned for lots more updates on this and content to share.
Help build pressure on Equinor and the Norwegian government.
You can help build pressure on Equinor and the Norwegian government. Here are four easy ways to take action with us:
- Do you own shares in Equinor? Then the most important thing you can do is vote for the climate resolutions submitted including the proposal submitted by Greenpeace Norway and WWF-Norway (proposal number 14) and the proposal submitted by Sarasin & Partners LLP with others (proposal number 15). It is possible to vote in advance until May 13 at 12:00, or during the AGM which is held from 3pm on May 14th. Here’s everything you need to know about voting.
- Sign the petitions. Show how there’s widespread opposition against Equinor’s dirty activities by adding your name here. You can also sign this petition against the Rosebank oil field in the UK.
- Let's make some noise. Take to social media and tell Equinor and the Norwegian government to get out of oil and gas. We’ve added some easy digital actions you can take here, but feel free to draft your own. Tag @equinor @regjeringen in your posts or go to the profiles and comment on the latest posts.
- Share this website. If we’re going to stop Equinor we need as many people as possible. Tell a friend, colleague or neighbor about this website and the Equinor Out coalition.
