Spain

Equinor is exploring the potential for floating offshore wind in Spain.

South Korea

Equinor is involved in offshore wind projects in South Korea and it's also where it constructs manny of its platforms and vessels used to find, produce and transport oil and gas.

Singapore

Equinor's Singapore office is the regional hub for the company's downstream activities and trading of crude oil and natural gas liquids throughout Asia Pacific.

Poland

Equinor is involved in offshore wind in Poland.

Nigeria

Equinor has been present in Nigeria since 1992 and have played a significant role in developing the country’s biggest deepwater field Agbami, utilising one of the world’s largest floating production, storage and offloading vessels. It is located 110 kilometres off the Nigerian coast in water depths of 1,500 metres. On 29 November 2023, after over 30 years in Nigeria, Equinor announced that it reached an agreement to sell its Nigerian business to Chappal Energies. The closing of the transaction, which is subject to the satisfaction of certain conditions including all regulatory and contractual approvals, will lead to Equinor effectively exiting the country.

The Netherlands

Equinor has supplied the Netherlands with natural gas for many years, and have had presence in the Netherlands from the late 1990s when they secured an ownership share in a local refinery. It's also active in the development of several hydrogen projects in the country.

India

Equinor opened an office in New Delhi, India in 2019.

Germany

Equinor opened its first office in Germany in 1984 and have been supplying the country with natural gas ever since.

France

Equinor, Q ENERGY and Green Giraffe have formed Océole, a partnership dedicated to developing floating offshore wind in France.

Denmark

Equinor opened an office in Copenhagen in January 2024m, with according to the company the main focus being on recruitment and business opportunities within the renewable energy industry.

Belgium

Belgium (European Union)

Equinor’s office in Brussels represents the company’s interests in the EU and provides support for Equinor’s gas marketing and sales. Equinor is one of the largest supplier of gas to Europe. The combined gas volumes from Equinor and SDFI (the Norwegian state's gas volumes) constitute nearly 30 per cent of the gas market in Europe.

Australia

Equinor opened a country office in Sydney in September 2023 to assess renewable opportunities in Australia. In 2020, following huge public opposition and organising by local and international campaigners, Equinor cancelled its plans to drill for oil and gas in the Australian Bight, a unique natural environment that is home to a variety of iconic marine species and supports Australia's largest commercial fishery for southern bluefin tuna.

Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan has been one of Equinor’s largest and longest-standing international commitments. The company has been operating there since 1992 and are one of the largest foreign investors. On 22 December 2023, after 30 years in Azerbaijan, Equinor announced that it reached an agreement to sell all its assets to SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic).

USA

Equinor is involved in offshore and onshore oil and gas production in the United States. Equinor has been active in the development and production of onshore oil and gas in the US including fracking since 2009. The Gulf of Mexico is a core area for Equinor today. As operator of Titan, partner in eight more producing fields and with two fields in development, Equinor is one of the most active companies in the Gulf of Mexico.

Tanzania

Equinor started exploration drilling activities offshore Tanzania in 2011. A total of 15 exploration wells have been drilled, resulting in nine discoveries with estimated volumes of more than 20 Tcf of gas in place. Twice the size of Norway’s Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea, the discovery is the company’s largest outside Norway. A decade on from the discovery the development has yet to begin.

Libya

Equinor has been present in Libya for more than 29 years with onshore exploration and oil production activities.

Suriname

Equinor (then Statoil) entered Suriname in 2011. It currently holds 33.33% in block 59 offshore Suriname alongside ExxonMobil (operator) and Hess. Water depths are approx. 2,900 to 3,500 metres.

Angola

The Angolan continental shelf is one of the largest contributors to Equinor's oil production outside Norway. Equinor entered the Angolan market in 1991. The company is currently producing from three blocks.

Algeria

Since setting up an office in Algeria in 2003, Equinor has developed two of the largest gas fields in the country in partnership with national oil company Sonatrach.

The Peterhead Power Station

Equinor is working with Scottish energy company SSE to build the Peterhead Power Station, a new gas burning power station in Peterhead, in the North East of Scotland.

Canada

The Bay du Nord oil field

Bay du Nord is a project led by Equinor to develop a massive deep-sea offshore oil field outside the Eastern coast of Canada. Even though Equinor has paused the Bay du Nord project, it has no intention of stopping the search for oil and gas reserves in the area.

Norway

Oil fields in Norway

Norway – and Equinor – are accelerating the climate crisis and blocking green solutions by continuing to explore and invest in fossil fuels. Norway has ramped up its exploration licensing, despite presenting itself as a global leader against climate change. Between 2012 and 2021 the Norwegian government has issued licences equivalent to the potential extraction of 2.8 billion barrels of new oil and gas resources. This makes Norway the most aggressive explorer of new oil and gas fields in Europe.

Argentina

Equinor in Argentina

Equinor is at the forefront of new offshore oil and gas exploration in Argentina. Future oil production in Argentina can easily be dominated by Equinor, since the Norwegian state-owned company has obtained the most exploration permits in Argentina since 2018. Equinor is currently exploring a total area of 46,000 m2 in Argentina, while taking advantage of its experience in the North Sea to position itself in the South Atlantic as well. While doing this, it is acting in complete disregard for the unique biodiversity in the Argentine Sea, which has set fire to climate protests across the country.

Brazil

The Bacalhau oil field

The Bacalhau oil field, previously Carcará, is one of the largest discoveries in Brazil, located 200 kilometres off the Sao Paulo coast. Equinor estimates it to have a capacity of a daily production of up to 200,000 barrels of oil. It is the largest oil field in Equinor’s Brazilian portfolio, which Equinor is developing regardless of cries from local communities and organisations about the huge threats to biodiversity. Equinor has been active in Brazil for more than 20 years, but Bacalhau will be the first pre-salt project to be developed by an international operator in Brazil. It is set to start production in 2025.

The Rosebank oil field

The Rosebank oil field is a planned oil field 130 kilometres (80 miles) off the Shetland coast in the British North Sea. The UK government has approved Equinor’s application to develop the oil field, with an estimated daily oil production of 70,000 barrels of oil between 2026 and 2028. Equinor owns an 80% stake in Rosebank, while Ithaca Energy, a subsidiary of Israeli Delek Group, owns the remaining 20%. Equinor estimates that there will be oil production from Rosebank until 2051.
